Overview
The Director of Environmental Services will assume full responsibility for department performance and maintain a high-quality standard of physical plant, Life Safety, Housekeeping and Laundry services. You will oversee training, supervision, and motivation of the environmental services staff, ensuring all schedules are completed with the highest level of quality. You will coordinate move-ins with the new resident and the sales and maintenance departments and maintain good public relations with all concerned.
Also ensure high quality resident care services within budgetary guidelines while meeting or exceeding Palm Beach Memory Care standards and complying with federal, state, local, and Palm Beach Memory Care policies, procedures and regulations.
- Ensure operation is always in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Keep Environmental department operation within monthly budget.
- Plan and coordinate health services.
- Establish and enforce policies and procedures.
- Respond in a timely manner to work orders.
- Serve as a servant‑leadership director of all decision making.
- Ensure resident satisfaction through quality‑assurance programs and direct customer service involvement.
- Create and implement policies and procedures to improve operation and quality of care.
- Respond promptly to requests of residents, families, and guests’ programs.
- Communicate effectively with all levels of management, team members, residents, family members, guests, vendors, referral sources and outside contacts.
- Manage revenue and expense budget (staffing, supplies, contractors).
- Make independent decisions.
- Conduct training, on‑the‑job training and orientation programs for all environmental associates.
- Maintain a warm, friendly and caring communication style.
- Adhere to Fair Housing Act (FHA) and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidelines.
- Passion for working with senior citizens.
- Working knowledge of carpentry (drywall repair, painting, light plumbing, preventive maintenance).
- Basic technical and mechanical ability to perform routine maintenance and repair of mechanical and electrical equipment and construction principles.
- Implement preventive maintenance program for facility and equipment.
- Supervise housekeeping and laundry personnel as required.
- Maintain grounds and exterior building repair in cooperation with landscaping contractor and garbage removal services.
- Keep all interior areas clean and maintained (cleaning, cleaning of carpets, furniture, windows, vinyl floor replacement).
- Prepare and refurbish apartments for resident move‑ins (painting, carpet laying, vinyl floor replacement, ceiling fan installation).
- Maintain fire safety and emergency records and procedures in compliance with regulations, including distribution of MSDS.
- Inspect resident apartments for hazards and report to supervisor for follow‑up.
- Schedule and perform preventive maintenance and update quality assurance records for the physical plant.
- Perform janitorial tasks including repair and maintenance of equipment and building facilities.
- Demonstrate professional conduct in conflict resolution for residents, families, employees and others.
- Work well with others, follow directions from management, take initiative and be willing to go above and beyond to meet residents’ needs.
- Self‑motivated to accomplish identified goals with a strong sense of accountability for results.
- Remain flexible, work weekends as needed.
- Understand laws and restrictions regarding senior living care and other levels of care.
- Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Adhere to dress code and wear name badge daily.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Regional Management.
- Previous experience in Assisted Living and/or Memory Care.
- Experience in a managerial role.
