Purpose Statement
Plan, direct, and implement therapeutic programs as part of the patient’s treatment plan.

• Complete activity assessments through patient observation and interviews, gathering information on needs, skills, interests, and limitations for treatment planning.
• Participate as an interdisciplinary team member in meetings and treatment plan development.
• Plan and implement leisure education to increase patient awareness of leisure and recreational pursuits as healthy coping skills.
• Develop and execute activities programs including therapeutic leisure skills, leisure education, and awareness.
• Facilitate group sessions to enhance overall patient well-being.
• Instruct patients in relaxation, anger, and stress management techniques tailored to their needs and goals.
• Help patients learn coping and life skills to promote independence.
• Modify interventions to meet the needs of different groups.
• Maintain a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude towards patients, prioritizing patient safety and working to resolve complaints.

• Perform additional tasks as assigned.

• Bachelor's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Recreational Therapy, or related field required.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• At least three years’ experience in recreation within a healthcare setting.

• Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) or in the process of obtaining certification; or certification in a related expressive therapy area; or relevant professional licensure.
• CPR and de-escalation/resistance training certification required.
