Early Career Geotechnical Engineer – WSP USA
WSP is seeking an Early Career Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in New England. Positions are available in Boston (MA), North Providence (RI), Glastonbury (CT), Worcester (MA), Shelton (CT) and other WSP offices throughout the region.
OpportunityAs a member of our Geotechnical and Tunneling Team, you will work on projects that meet client objectives and solve complex challenges. You will assist in the design and analysis of bridges, buildings, tunnels, underground structures, and retaining walls under the guidance of senior engineers.
Your Impact- Perform field observations and special inspections of subsurface investigations in soils and rock.
- Assist in geotechnical engineering design and analyses for bridges, buildings, tunnels, underground structures, and retaining walls.
- Prepare or draft geotechnical memoranda, data reports and design reports.
- Assist in the preparation of contract documents and reports.
- Collaborate with other disciplines and project partners.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Geotechnical or Tunneling Engineering, or a closely related field.
- 0 to 3 years of relevant experience.
- Proven knowledge of geotechnical engineering and working knowledge of related disciplines (Structures, Civil, and/or Environmental).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with technical writing, office automation, discipline‑specific design software (e.g., Micro Station, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Geo Slope, Plaxis, Settle, LPILE, GROUP, GRLWEAP, SEEP/W, Rock Sciences software).
- Flexibility with a variety of schedules and ability to prioritize responsibilities.
- Willingness to travel and perform field work.
- Must pass WSP’s motor‑vehicle screening.
- Adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and safety policies.
- Engineer in Training certification.
- Prior experience in highway, bridge, building, and underground projects.
- Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards.
- Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training.
- Membership in a local professional organization.

CompensationExpected Salary Range: $56,300–$92,900. WSP USA reserves the right to adjust compensation.
