Summary: Responsible for radiographic examination utilizing diagnostic radiographic equipment. Provides direct patient care to patients of all ages. Performs supervisory duties within the department, including directing departmental activities, technologist staff, and ancillary personnel, as well as scheduling and evaluating employees. Monitors operating expenses, including salaries and capital expenses. Maintains established standards of quality assurance. Assists the Administrative Director of Radiology in developing, justifying, and maintaining a fiscal budget.

Education: A.S. in Radiography or Diploma in Radiography from an AMA-approved school.

Licensure: ARRT RI State License. CPR required.

Experience: 3 years’ experience managing radiology staff, including scheduling, recruiting, interviewing, and training. Proficient in routine & special radiology procedures.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Computer skills
  • Ability to recognize priorities and deal with them promptly
  • Maintain all equipment and monitoring according to Federal, RI Department of Health, Radiation Standards, and JCAHO
  • Works with radiation physicist to ensure optimum performance of radiographic equipment
  • Maintain adequate inventory of all routine stock supplies and determine inventory levels
  • Problem solving
  • Plan staff meetings
  • Serve as a resource to department staff regarding hospital regulations, personnel policies, and procedures
  • Contribute to efficient operation of department
  • Ability to comfort anxious patients
  • Maintain information confidentiality (HIPAA)
  • Demonstrated customer service skills
  • Utilize responsive customer service skills considering cultural background, linguistic skills, and age of customers
  • Work cooperatively with peers and other disciplines
  • Communicate effectively and work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams
