Base Pay Range$17.00/hr – $20.50/hr
OverviewOur pharmacy technician positions have evolved from a transaction-based environment to a patient-centric role. As a Walgreens Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Apprentice, you will interact with customers, build patient relationships, and receive all the tools and support—including the latest technology—to grow your career.
Responsibilities- Assist the pharmacist under direct supervision in the practice of pharmacy and other Pharmacy Department duties in accordance with company policies.
- Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, process prescriptions, and manage the pharmacy cash register.
- Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience, greeting customers, offering assistance, resolving issues, and ensuring a positive interaction.
- Assist in pharmacy operations: fill prescriptions, verify medication accuracy, check for interactions, schedule workflow, report errors, and adhere to Good Faith Dispensing.
- Handle cash register responsibilities, process cash transactions, and guide customers to the OTC aisle.
- Process manual claims for third‑party prescription services and perform other clerical duties as assigned.
- Support inventory management: order, unpack, store pharmaceuticals, file overage and shortage claims, and maintain asset protection techniques.
- Assist with clinical services such as collecting and labeling blood/urine samples, coordinating with Walgreens healthcare clinics, and external providers.
- Help develop relationships with local medical community, including physicians, nurses, and health care providers, through outreach initiatives.
- Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly pharmacy department and comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program or state-required certification/registration.
- Attend required training and acquire continuing education credits to maintain knowledge of healthcare and pharmacy developments.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
- Six months of experience in a retail environment.
- Prior work experience with Walgreens.
- Good math skills for accurate prescription filling.
- Strong computer skills.
- Knowledge of store inventory control.
- PCPB certification.
