Summary: Performs a variety of clerical duties in connection with preparing, compiling and maintaining patient and hospital records in the nursing service unit. Coordinates activities in the unit such as scheduling patient tests as ordered by a physician. Performs other clerical and accommodative services to assist the nursing staff. Transcribes physicians' orders onto unit records and files for nursing personnel. Prepares requisitions for laboratory tests, x‑ray exams, blood tests and consultations requested by the physician.
Orders medications and supplies for pre‑/post‑operative patients. Regularly performs the function of unit receptionist.
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Licensure: N/A
Experience: 3‑6 months experience as a receptionist or secretary.
