Responsibilities
  • Author functional requirements, design verification plans and test procedures
  • Execute product designs which meet the requirements
  • Build and test electromechanical subsystem prototypes and integrated systems
  • Support product releases to manufacturing and customer deployments
  • Work efficiently to support rapid schedules
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • Experience with DFx (Design for cost, test, manufacturing)
  • Experience communicating to senior management and customers verbally and in writing
  • Experience working in an Agile environment
  • Knowledge of Solid Works or similar CAD experience and understanding of best practices for part design, and advanced assemblies
  • 10+ years of experience designing and integrating actuators into robotics systems
  • Expert in robotic actuators, including: motors, mechanical transmissions, bearings, encoders, lubrication, environmental seals, etc.
  • Deep understanding of mechanical and electrical efficiency, inertia, compliance, etc
  • Deep understanding of component capacities and life estimation given highly variable operating trajectories
  • Hands‑on experience building prototypes and debugging subsystems
  • Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
  • Experience with the project management of technical projects
  • Knowledge of Solid Works simulation or Ansys Finite Element analysis tools
  • Experience with actuator designs for robot end effectors
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with Electrical and Controls engineers
  • Experience launching a product at scale
  • Proficiency documenting designs in accordance with ANSI Y-14.5
  • Experience designing and debugging tooled (sheet metal, cast, injection molded, etc.) components
  • Ability to support domestic and international travel as required by the program
  • Proficiency with Product Lifecycle Management PLM software and ECO’s

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $128,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $213,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
