Position: Motion Controls Algorithm Engineer

Experience Review
- Develop, implement, and optimize high-performance motion control algorithms, specifically focusing on precision position and torque control loops.
- Establish and maintain robust testing frameworks to ensure the stability and reliability of robotic motion across various operational conditions.
- Design and execute automated validation routines to stress-test system limits and ensure safety protocols are met.
- Analyze complex system responses and telemetry to identify bottlenecks or instabilities in real-time control performance.
- Implement standardized processes for controller evaluation and technical documentation of testing methodologies.
- Use a data-driven approach to troubleshoot and resolve complex control issues arising from hardware-software interactions.
- A Master’s or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Robotics with a focus on Controls.
- Proven experience in designing and tuning position and torque control systems for robotic or mechatronic hardware.
- Demonstrated ability to perform system identification and modeling of physical dynamics to inform controller design.
- Strong Python programming skills to create automated test suites and data analysis tools.
- Professional experience working with real-time control systems and motion planning architectures.
- Experience designing automated validation routines and formalizing system response testing methodologies.
- Ability to diagnose complex control instabilities using empirical data and frequency-domain analysis.
- Expertise in MATLAB/Simulink for rapid prototyping and simulation of control laws before hardware deployment.
- Familiarity with functional safety standards for industrial or collaborative robots.
The hourly rate for this position is between $70 - $75 per hour
. Factors which may affect pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
