Research Scientist, Mobile Manipulation Robotics

Amazon Robotics is hiring a research scientist in North Reading for mobile manipulation. The role focuses on learning-based approaches that help robots navigate and manipulate objects in dynamic fulfillment environments.

This is applied robotics research with an explicit path from experiments to production systems.

• Formulate research problems in robot learning and mobile manipulation
• Design model architectures, experiments, benchmarks, and ablation studies
• Define data requirements and reusable pipelines for robotics research
• Build research code and evaluation tooling for broader robotics integration

• PhD or equivalent research depth in a quantitative or robotics-adjacent field
• Experience designing experiments and statistically validating results
• Strong Python and deep-learning framework experience
• Ability to explain complex technical work to both technical and non-technical audiences

Amazon Robotics is one of the few places where mobile manipulation research can meet enormous operational scale. The tradeoff is that the research agenda is tightly coupled to fulfillment problems, so the best fit is someone who wants production constraints close to the science.
