Director of Finance

The City of North Richland Hills is seeking a Finance Director that will lead a high-performing department while ensuring the City’s long-term financial stability through strategic planning and clear communication with City leadership. Key priorities include evaluating the newly implemented utility billing system, leveraging technology, and strengthening procedures, training, and operational efficiency.

The ideal candidate is a hands‑on, fair, and consistent leader with strong local government finance expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to balance attention to detail with a big‑picture perspective. Serving as the City’s finance subject matter expert, the Director will safeguard fiduciary responsibilities, act as a trusted steward of public resources, and foster a collaborative, service‑oriented culture that supports continued growth and financial stability.

• The next Finance Director should possess broad professional and technical knowledge of finance and governmental accounting.
• A Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, or accounting is required and a Master’s degree is preferred.
• At least seven years of progressively responsible experience in local government financial administration or accounting with at least two years in management is highly desired.
• While not required, credentials as a Certified Government Finance Officer or Certified Public Accountant are a plus.
