The Nurse Manager of Med‑Surg is responsible for planning, organizing, setting goals and objectives, and directing unit activities, ensuring high quality nursing care and compliance with all applicable regulations.
Responsibilities- Use nursing standards, JCAHO, Medicare and state/local regulations to plan, organize and direct all unit activities.
- Evaluate staff effectiveness and unit performance and coordinate activities with other departments.
- Assume accountability for operational and personnel activities.
- Make independent decisions and prioritize responsibilities when circumstances warrant.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the development needs of pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
- Apply critical thinking skills to lead process improvements.
- Deal tactfully with patients, families, physicians, and other employees.
- Be accountable to customer satisfaction scores, including patient, physician, and employee surveys.
- Transition from a clinical to a supervisory role.
- Graduate of a school of professional nursing.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree required.
- Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Texas or a compact license.
- BCLS required.
- 5 years of acute care nursing experience, at least one in the related clinical area.
- 3 years of prior experience in nursing leadership preferred.
Medical City North Hills is a 165+ bed hospital in Northeast Tarrant County, offering services such as Primary Stroke Center, spine surgery, joint replacements, cardiovascular services, cardiac rehabilitation, robotic surgery, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, sports medicine, senior health, wound care, outpatient rehabilitation, women’s imaging center and geriatric behavioral unit.
