We are in search of a VDC Technician I to support our North Ridgeville operations. This entry level role contributes to the successful delivery of construction projects by producing and maintaining accurate 3D models and coordinated digital information that support constructability, reduce risk, and improve field execution. The VDC Technician I enables project teams to identify and resolve clashes early, enhance coordination across trades, and ensure alignment between design intent and installation through hands‑on engagement in modeling, coordination, and reality‑capture efforts.
JOBRESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with the development, maintenance, and updating of accurate, constructible 3D models under supervision.
- Apply established modeling standards, VDC workflows, approved design changes, and version-control practices.
- Support model coordination, clash identification, constructability reviews, and escalation of coordination issues.
- Review plans, specifications, and model content to develop an understanding of trade systems and project requirements.
- Assist with construction technology activities, including laser scanning, layout tools, Matterport, total station, and 360° imaging workflows.
- Collect, organize, process, and maintain digital field data, models, files, and supporting documentation.
- Communicate assigned-task updates and coordination concerns clearly with VDC, project, and field team members.
- Follow all company and jobsite safety requirements; identify and escalation potential safety concerns related to modeling, coordination, or field data collection.
- Foundational proficiency or aptitude in CAD, BIM, 3D modeling, and digital construction workflows.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans, specifications, and model content.
- Familiarity with reality-capture, layout, or field-technology tools and processes.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain model accuracy, file organization, and documentation standards.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify inconsistencies and escalation issues with context.
- Effective active listening and communication skills, including asking clarifying questions and incorporating feedback.
- Ability to collaborate professionally with VDC, project, design, and field personnel.
- Accountability, adaptability, curiosity, and a commitment to continuous learning and safe work practices.
- Associate degree in CAD, BIM, Construction Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred.
- Zero to two years of CAD/BIM or construction-related experience, including academic, internship, or entry-level experience.
- Basic understanding of construction drawings, building systems, and trade-specific construction processes preferred.
- Foundational hands-on experience with construction-related reality-capture or layout technology is required.
- Relevant technology experience may include laser scanning, Matterport, total stations, 360° imaging, reality-capture platforms, or comparable equipment.
