Intervention Specialist, Education ​/ Teaching

The Intervention Specialist at Phoenix Learning Center is responsible for developing and implementing individualized educational plans (IEPs), delivering specially designed instruction, and supporting students with disabilities across academic, behavioral, and functional domains. The ideal candidate will collaborate with general education staff, related service providers, and families to promote student success within a trauma‑informed, inclusive, and SEL‑focused learning environment.

• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in compliance with federal and state regulations
• Provide direct instruction and academic intervention aligned with students' IEP goals and grade‑level standards
• Collaborate with general education teachers, RBTs, and related service staff to deliver accommodations, modifications, and supports
• Utilize evidence‑based instructional strategies and data‑driven decision making
• Participate in and facilitate IEP meetings, parent conferences, and multidisciplinary team meetings
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including progress reports, service logs, and IEP data
• Implement Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) and support Functional Behavior Plans when applicable
• Advocate for student needs and foster inclusive practices across educational settings
• Support transition planning, vocational goals, and life skills instruction when applicable
• Engage in professional development to remain current on best practices in special education and SEL

• Valid Ohio Intervention Specialist license (Mild/Moderate, Moderate/Intensive, or equivalent)
• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field
• Knowledge of IDEA, IEP development, and special education compliance
• Ability to differentiate instruction and manage diverse learner needs

• Master’s degree in Special Education, Curriculum & Instruction, or related field
• Experience with trauma‑informed care, SEL, and restorative practices
• Familiarity with PBIS, ABA principles, or collaborative service delivery models
• Experience working in a nontraditional, alternative, or therapeutic school setting

• Strong collaboration and communication skills

• Data collection and analysis for student progress monitoring
• Organizational skills and attention to detail

• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
• Ability to respond quickly in classroom or crisis situations
