Duties
As a Co-op in our Mechanical Department you will gain a basic understanding of the duties of a Project Manager / Estimator and observe the construction process in the field and office. You will have the opportunity to shadow a Project Manager during a project and participate in the following activities:

• Safety: GEM safety orientation, Jobsite audits, Customer / Site-specific training

• Administrative Items:
  Plotting drawings, Drawing / document control, As-built drawings, RFI process

• Proposal Phase:
  Participate in development of proposals, Learn to do a take-off, Attend bid openings (public bid work)

• Costing:
  Review field labor, Track delivered materials

• Project Meetings:
  Pre-planning, Cost reviews

• Subcontractor Management:
  Labor management - goal setting and tracking, Equipment tracking, Material management

You will also gain an understanding of how the office, field, fab-shop and CAD departments team up to complete a successful project by spending time with a mentor as well as spending time in each department learning how it works.
