Whilst appointees will have a base practice within NPC, they may be asked to work at other practices across our group. We do however limit this as much as possible as we appreciate continuity is vital to effective primary care.

We are recruiting up to 8 sessions at NPC Nelson, North Shields. The successful candidate will be expected to work Fridays. This is an excellent opportunity for a GP who is passionate about delivering high-quality patient care and is keen to play a key role in shaping the future of a thriving practice.

NPC Nelson is a welcoming, community-focused practice serving the population of North Shields and surrounding areas, with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care. As part of Northumbria Primary Care and the wider NPC North Tyneside neighbourhood, the practice benefits from a diverse multidisciplinary team and a collaborative network across four local sites, providing opportunities for shared learning, peer support, and service resilience.

Based at Nelson Health Centre alongside other NHS services, the practice is well connected within the local community and works closely with a range of partner organisations, including women’s refuge services, rehabilitation centres, care homes, children’s services, and OpCourage. Serving a population with significant health inequalities and higher levels of deprivation, Nelson has a particular focus on continuity, preventative care, wellbeing, and proactive long-term condition management.

As a GP Practice which is part of Northumbria Primary Care, we work with flexibility and independence to run the surgery based on what is best for our patients and staff, and additionally we have the regular and consistent support of the management team to help us to focus on what is clinically important.

As a Salaried GP the post holder will be a key clinician within the team. A job plan will be agreed with you to provide general medical services and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting.
