SEN Teaching Assistant

Overview

SEN Teaching Assistants are needed for immediate supply positions for a lovely SEN school in the North Tyneside area. Roles include supporting children with needs ranging from ASD, MLD, behavioural issues and PMLD/complex needs. Pupil ages range from Nursery through to 6th form. Roles may involve whole-class support or one-to-one support for pupils with SEND. The school has two nearby sites and you may move between them over a week to provide support wherever it is needed most.

Facilities include a hydrotherapy pool on site and class sizes are small.

• Provide whole-class or one-to-one support to pupils with SEND as required.
• Move between the two school sites as needed to support demand.

• Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or above; other qualifications such as a degree in Psychology or Education Studies are also acceptable.
• Experience in supporting children with ASD, MLD, behavioural issues or PMLD/complex needs is advantageous but not essential; a willingness to learn and engage with SEN children is the most important quality.
• Two referees we can contact; DBS clearance or willingness to obtain one.
• Flexibility and willingness to learn from experienced staff at the school.

The rate of pay will depend on the level of qualification and the amount of experience. Premier Teachers Ltd is a teacher-run agency based in Sunderland.
