Overview
The Finance Officer will support the Fleet Finance debt management team in the verification and preparation of debtor invoices, chasing debtors to maximise income and preparation and analysing reports.
Responsibilities- Prepare and input data to computer systems, analyse data, ensure that control accounts are accurate and provide assistance to the team.
- Handle queries via email and telephone from staff, customers, suppliers, and patients; investigate as needed to ensure issues are addressed in a timely and effective manner.
- Help ensure timely and accurate invoice processing and understand its impact on key performance indicators and cash flow.
- Ensure all financial invoices, receipts, credit notes, income and payments are processed in accordance with standard operating procedures and financial timescales.
- Input data into the General Ledger using journals.
- Support the delivery of key performance indicators for the Team.
- Ensure information is provided according to statutory return guidelines (SFIs) and expectations.
- Investigate queries from staff and customers which could include late or non-payment of invoices and invoice price; work with relevant parties to resolve issues quickly and agree workable solutions.
- Manage a range of customer accounts, requiring strong interpersonal and analysis skills, and develop appropriate plans and solutions to meet needs of both the customer and the Trust.
- Handle some complex calculations, analysis and reconciliations, including VAT.
- Input and update customer accounts onto financial systems such as Oracle.
- Participate in mandatory, statutory or development training as required.
- Demonstrate flexibility and agility to handle other tasks and duties as needed to meet team and department needs.
- May be required to work across various Trust sites.
- Please note the organisation context:
We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed.
- Strong interpersonal and analytical skills with the ability to develop plans and solutions for customers and the Trust.
- Experience with financial systems (e.g., Oracle) and performing general ledger journals and VAT calculations.
