Position: Physiotherapist | Northumbria Healthcare - NHCT Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust

Overview

Northumbria Healthcare NHS Trust's Specialist Palliative Care Team (SPCT) are looking for a physiotherapist with to join their AHPs group (Physio's, OT's and Therapy Assistants). Our SPCT covers the whole Trust with 2 palliative care in-patient units, a hospital liaison team supporting patients and staff on general wards and emergency care, and caring for patients in their own homes in both rural and urban settings.

This post would be based in North Tyneside and will largely be community based in that area but all staff work flexibly to cover all areas as needed and we provide a 7 day a week service.

The post holder would be supported by highly experienced senior specialist therapy staff, and we have comprehensive educational and support programmes to facilitate learning. Specialist therapy interventions include management of complex symptoms such as pain, breathlessness, fatigue and nausea as well as general mobility and ADL activities. We work closely as a multi-disciplinary team to give patients the best possible chance of achieving end of life goals and continuing to live life to the fullest despite life limiting diagnoses.

Some experience in palliative care would be an advantage but not essential, while commitment to providing high quality, safe, compassionate care, working collaboratively and innovatively with patients, their families and the MDT are key attributes.

Please contact us to discuss the post or to arrange an informal visit to meet the team and find out more.
