Due to continued investment in our Oncology services, we are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for an Advanced Clinical Practitioner to work alongside the Breast Consultant Oncology teams.
This role will be pivotal in supporting the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care in out-patient setting and supporting the Oncology Day Units to deliver high quality SACT/Oncology care.
The postholder will be working at Master's level across the four pillars of advanced practice:
- Expert clinical practice in SACT /Acute oncology management
- Leadership within the oncology/SACT speciality, influencing service development, reducing variations in patient care
- Education and training, supporting colleagues across the teams
- Quality improvement and research, driving innovation and supporting delivery of the NHS Cancer Plan, & the Non Surgical Oncology agenda.
The Advanced Clinical Practitioner will work collaboratively with the Breast Consultant Oncologists (based in Newcastle and provide a hub and spoke model in the Trust), Clinical/MDT teams, to support the delivery of the non-surgical oncology agenda to ensure safe, effective pathways for patients receiving SACT.
The post holder will expected to flexible and work across different sites as required in providing Out Patients clinics.

Main duties of the jobThe successful candidate will have:
- Advanced knowledge and experience in Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT)
- Demonstrable expertise in Acute Oncology management
- Strong autonomous clinical assessment and decision-making skills
- Work within the multidisciplinary teams and contributing to service development
- Proven leadership within the oncology speciality, with a track record of driving improvements in patient care and service delivery
- Skilled in quality improvement, audit and research within the oncology speciality
- Non Medical prescriber
We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, in addition to our state-of-the-art Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, the first of its kind in England. We also care for people in their homes and provide services from facilities in local communities such as health centres.

responsibilities
Use advanced knowledge and skills in to undertake comprehensive clinical assessments, make treatment decisions based on clinical reasoning and initiate, evaluate and modify a range of interventions for patients receiving SACT. Provide professional senior clinical leadership and support within the specialty multi professional team and across service boundaries.
Support the wider team to build capacity and capability through work-based and interprofessional learning, and the application of learning to practice.
Act as a role model, educator, supervisor, coach and mentor, leading clinical audits and critically engage in research activity using the results to underpin own practice, inform the practice of others and make organisational recommendations.
Qualifications- Professional registration with NMC / HCPC / GPC
- Masters level qualification in Advanced Practice
- Prescribing qualification (where legally permitted)
- Evidence of relevant, recent study continuing education
- Independent and supplementary non-medical prescriber (where legally permitted)
- Management and leadership qualification
- IR(ME)
R training - ALS / APLS
- Extensive demonstrable experience in specialty / clinical area
- Experience of implementing evidence based practice
- Experience of participation in clinical audit
- Information technology skills
- Experience of leading clinical governance
- Experience of research activity
- Experience of Service Improvement / Quality Improvement / Practice Development
- Experience of developing evidence based protocols and clinical guidelines.
