Clinical Pharmacist

Northumbria supports our clinical pharmacists in their professional development by utilising a foundation programme of education and training. This includes structured rotations, educational opportunities and a foundation pharmacist framework.

Our progressive team has a national reputation for innovation and development. We have one of the highest proportions of pharmacist prescribers in the country, using their skills for patients on general wards, in specialist clinics, GP practices, in their own homes and in care homes.

This post is rotational, with an expectation to work at all trust sites. There is a commitment to weekend working and on-call as part of our clinical teams. The Trust's Specialist Emergency Care Hospital is supported by a 7 day clinical pharmacy service. You will be required to work at a range of sites within the Trust and in primary/community care settings.

As a flexible employer we welcome applications from individuals wishing to work part time or job share.

We welcome applications from trainee pharmacists due to qualify in August 2026, or from recently qualified pharmacists.

We have a band 6 clinical pharmacist flexible working plan which is facilitated trustwide and can be discussed at interview.

We have both a permanent and a fixed term role available.

Full time and part time hours may be considered.

Main duties of the job

  • Participate in clinical audit and practice development activities.

  • Role model compassionate and inclusive leadership to shape a collective leadership culture within the trust, demonstrating a consistent leadership style that engages, enables and empowers others, uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement, and facilitates team working and collaboration within teams/departments and across organisational boundaries.
