Clinical/Counselling Psychologist

Main duties of the job
  • Provide high quality, effective applied psychology services to the Health Psychology services.
  • Deliver psychological assessment and interventions (including 1:1 and group) to patients within the service.
  • Work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for clinical governance of own work according to trust policies.
  • Undertake R&D activities for audit, policy and service development in conjunction with service leads.
  • Supervise and support the clinical activities of assistants and trainees in CHP.
  • Role model compassionate and inclusive leadership within the trust.
Job responsibilities

Including but not limited to the following:

  • Provide educational groups and seminars.
  • Undertake assessments relating to adaptations and additional needs to support service users.
  • Provide psychological triage and assessment.
  • Provide 1:1 therapeutic intervention relating to weight management.
  • Provide psychological group intervention.
Qualifications
  • Honours degree in psychology or related mental health field.
  • Doctorate in clinical or counselling or health psychology that confers eligibility for registration as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
Experience and Knowledge
  • Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across the range of care settings.
  • Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity.
  • Experience of teaching, training and/or consultation.
  • Experience of supervision of healthcare staff.
  • Experience of working with patients in a physical healthcare setting.
  • Experience of working in a multidisciplinary setting.
Other Requirements
  • May need to travel between Trust premises as required for the performance of duties and work at any of the Trust sites. Reasonable adjustments will be considered to enable a disabled person to undertake the role.
