We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Band 7 Clinical Psychologist to join the Mental Health Services for Older People (MHSOP) Psychology team at North Tyneside General Hospital.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive and expanding psychology service, with the majority of the post based within the Memory Clinic and opportunities to work across community and inpatient MHSOP services. The role offers the chance to develop specialist skills in neuropsychological assessment alongside psychological assessment, formulation and intervention with older adults presenting with both functional and organic mental health difficulties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work as part of cohesive multidisciplinary teams including psychologists, psychiatrists, nurses, occupational therapists and social workers, with regular supervision from experienced senior psychologists and opportunities to contribute to service development.
  • Collaborate with the Mental Health Services for Older People (MHSOP) in North Tyneside, working as part of a multidisciplinary psychology service.
  • Undertake specialist neuropsychological assessment of older adults with cognitive concerns, contributing to differential diagnosis, formulation and multidisciplinary diagnostic decision-making, and providing feedback and recommendations to patients, families and the wider clinical team.
  • Provide psychological assessment, formulation, and intervention within community and inpatient MHSOP services, working with older adults with functional and organic mental health difficulties, and providing consultation and advice to colleagues, carers and other professionals.
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary working, provide clinical supervision where appropriate, and participate in audit, service evaluation and the ongoing development of the MHSOP Psychology service.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Previous experience in neuropsychological assessment within older adult mental health and/or memory services is essential.
  • Experience in psychological assessment, formulation and intervention with older adults presenting with functional and organic mental health difficulties.
  • Ability to work within multidisciplinary teams and provide supervision and consultation as required.
