Senior Youth and Community Worker – North Shields – Church Way

£14.45 per hour

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our Youth and Community team as a Senior Youth and Community Worker located at Church Way in North Shields. If you are passionate about leading inclusive programmes and helping young people thrive, we encourage you to apply.

What Will You Be Doing?

As a Senior Youth and Community Worker
, you will lead the delivery of inclusive programmes across North Tyneside, balancing traditional youth work with innovative, person‑centred activities. Your main responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating and delivering a weekly programme of high‑quality, varied and safe youth work, including face‑to‑face, street‑based, school‑based and centre‑based work.
  • Coordinating and delivering a community offer that serves the needs of the community, exploring the current and potential needs of the most vulnerable.
  • Coordinating the delivery of the ‘Y Bus’ mobile youth provision to extend our reach and enhance community engagement.
What Skills and Experience Do You Need?

To be successful in this rewarding role, it is essential that you have:

  • A Youth and Community Work Qualification and essential Safeguarding training
    .
  • Proven experience in youth/community delivery
    , outreach work, safeguarding vulnerable individuals, and team coordination.
  • Excellent communication and IT skills, with the ability to manage complex, confidential information with absolute integrity.
  • A Full UK Driving Licence and a willingness to drive our YMCA Mobile Offer.
  • A flexible approach to working hours, covering 37.5 hours per week including evenings and some weekends.
