The Supervisor, DC Operations reports to the Manager of DC Operations and serves as the front‑line connection with warehouse employees, engaging and inspiring the team to meet and exceed daily targets.
This is a 2nd shift role, 3 pm‑11 pm, Monday‑Friday with flexibility as needed.
Operational Execution- Oversee daily operations in a warehouse section.
- Utilize reports, summaries, and procedures to resolve problems and improve employee efficiency and warehouse operations.
- Analyze reports and recommend best practices to the operations manager.
- Assign colleagues to work areas within the warehouse to achieve a balanced workload and meet daily operational metrics.
- Confer daily with Operations Manager to identify staffing needs and prioritize assignments.
- Continuously review established daily tasks and reprioritize assignments to meet operational success.
- Respond timely to emails from corporate partners, leadership, and peers.
- Conduct audits of colleague work and provide documented results.
- Keep appropriate records of operational reports and databases.
- Navigate ambiguity and change to achieve goals despite potential obstacles.
- Provide regular updates to leadership on daily/weekly department progress and goals.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures and federal and state laws.
- Support Operations Manager as needed to ensure operational effectiveness.
- Ensure appropriate floor presence and engage with colleagues to stay abreast of feedback and concerns.
- Effectively communicate information to team members in an open and timely manner.
- Champion an “always on” engagement mindset within the team, action planning and revisiting progress on engagement plans throughout the year.
- Provide regular feedback and coaching, including taking disciplinary actions when needed.
- Work with Advice & Counsel on job abandonments, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
- Drive an inclusive culture and diverse workforce at all levels of the DC; take ownership of talent management processes to grow, develop, and retain talent.
- Partner with training and HR resources to enhance training and talent outcomes, and identify high‑potential talent.
- Engage and inspire colleagues by building relationships and removing obstacles to their performance; leverage engagement survey feedback to improve colleague engagement.
- Maintain attendance and performance records of colleagues.
- Ensure all applicable state and federal regulations are followed, including FMLA, ADA, state protected sick time laws, EEOC, etc.
- Conduct interviews using structured interview questions and processes and make decisions on hiring new colleagues.
- Monitor staffing needs by measuring absenteeism, LOAs, turnover, and more, making recommendations for headcount.
- Oversee the training and development of new and existing colleagues in their section.
- Ensure on‑job safety of all colleagues.
- Fully embrace organizational improvement initiatives, acting as a change agent with the team and peers.
- Leverage a results-oriented mindset and use metrics to monitor improvements.
- Continuously seek opportunities both in the own department and the whole DC to drive efficiency and the colleague experience.
- Provide constructive and positive feedback on new initiatives to appropriate teams.
- Drive change openness in self and team.
- Gather regular feedback from colleagues about possible future changes and current processes.
- Minimum 1 year of work experience.
- 1+ year experience with Microsoft Office.
- 1+ year experience in a distribution center or similar environment.
- 1+ year experience in a leadership role.
