We are working with a supportive and inclusive secondary school in North Tyneside to recruit a Behaviour Support Assistant to support pupils with SEMH needs, behavioural challenges, and barriers to learning
. The school has clear behaviour systems and a strong pastoral structure, providing a stable environment for both pupils and staff.
This role suits someone confident supporting pupils both in and out of the classroom, helping them regulate emotions and re-engage with learning.

About the roleProvide targeted behaviour and SEMH support to pupils
Work 1:1 or in small groups to support engagement and emotional regulation
Support pupils during lessons, interventions, and transition times
De-escalate challenging situations in line with school policies
Work closely with pastoral staff, SEN teams, and teaching staff
11–16 secondary school with a strong community ethos
Clear behaviour policies and consistent routines
Well-established pastoral and safeguarding systems
Inclusive approach to supporting additional needs
Easily accessible via Metro, bus routes, and major roads
Suitable for candidates travelling from Newcastle, North Tyneside, or Northumberland
Experience in education, youth work, care, or behaviour support roles
Confident working with pupils with SEMH needs
Calm, resilient, and consistent approach
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Open to short-term or long-term placements
PAYE only – no umbrella companies

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
