Behaviour Support Assistant

We are working with a supportive and inclusive secondary school in North Tyneside to recruit a Behaviour Support Assistant to support pupils with SEMH needs, behavioural challenges, and barriers to learning
. The school has clear behaviour systems and a strong pastoral structure, providing a stable environment for both pupils and staff.

This role suits someone confident supporting pupils both in and out of the classroom, helping them regulate emotions and re-engage with learning.

North Tyneside | Well-connected suburban location £100 – £120 per day | PAYE | Depending on experience

• Provide targeted behaviour and SEMH support to pupils

• Work 1:1 or in small groups to support engagement and emotional regulation

• Support pupils during lessons, interventions, and transition times

• De-escalate challenging situations in line with school policies

• Work closely with pastoral staff, SEN teams, and teaching staff

• 11–16 secondary school with a strong community ethos

• Clear behaviour policies and consistent routines

• Well-established pastoral and safeguarding systems

• Inclusive approach to supporting additional needs

• Easily accessible via Metro, bus routes, and major roads

• Suitable for candidates travelling from Newcastle, North Tyneside, or Northumberland

• Experience in education, youth work, care, or behaviour support roles

• Confident working with pupils with SEMH needs

• Calm, resilient, and consistent approach

• Strong communication and relationship-building skills

• Open to short-term or long-term placements

• PAYE only – no umbrella companies

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
