Role Description

The Person al Support Assistant is a full-time, on-site role based in Backworth, providing practical and emotional support to adults and families in their homes and local community. Day-to-day responsibilities include assisting with personal care routines, helping with household tasks, offering companionship, and supporting individuals to maintain independence and engage in meaningful activities. The role may involve escorting people to appointments, helping with shopping and errands, and communicating with family members and colleagues to ensure consistent, person-centered care.

The Person al Support Assistant is expected to follow care plans, maintain accurate records, respect confidentiality, and uphold safeguarding and health and safety standards while promoting dignity and choice at all times.

Qualifications
  • Strong Personal Assistance skills, including providing direct support with daily living activities and maintaining a person-centered approach.
  • Experience with Executive Administrative Assistance tasks such as organizing information, coordinating appointments, and supporting service delivery logistics.
  • Effective Communication skills to interact respectfully with individuals, families, and colleagues, and to accurately report and record information.
  • Competence in Diary Management and scheduling to help plan visits, appointments, and routines in line with care plans.
  • Reliable Clerical Skills for maintaining documentation, completing forms, and using basic digital tools or care systems.
  • Relevant care or support experience (paid or voluntary), ideally in community, social care, or health settings.
  • Understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality, and person-centered care, with a commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Ability to work flexibly, travel locally as required, and perform physical aspects of the role safely.
  • Basic qualification in health and social care (or willingness to work towards one) and up-to-date background checks as required by local regulations.
