Location: Squamish

The Bookkeeper will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, overseeing daily accounting tasks, and supporting the company’s financial operations. This role requires exceptional organizational skills, proficiency in accounting software, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic sauna manufacturing environment. The position reports directly to the Finance Lead.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Record-Keeping:
    Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including general ledger entries, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
  • Transaction Processing:
    Record all financial transactions, including purchases, sales, receipts, and payments, accurately within the company’s accounting system.
  • Reconciliation:
    Perform monthly reconciliations of bank accounts, credit cards, and other financial accounts to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
  • Payroll Support:
    Assist with payroll processing, including tracking employee hours, calculating wages, and ensuring timely payments using the master payroll sheet.
  • Invoicing:
    Prepare and issue customer invoices, following up on outstanding payments to ensure timely collections.
  • Expense Monitoring:
    Track and categorize company expenses, ensuring accurate allocation to appropriate accounts and cost centres.
  • Financial Reporting:
    Prepare essential financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, for management review.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
    Ensure adherence to company policies, tax regulations, and Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE).
  • Collaboration:

    Work closely with the finance team, management, and other departments to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning initiatives.
  • Documentation:
    Maintain organized, secure, and up-to-date records of all financial transactions and supporting documentation.
Qualifications
  • Education:

    High school diploma or equivalent required;
    Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience:

    Minimum of 2 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing or small to mid-sized business environment.
  • Technical Proficiency:
    Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Quick Books), Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word), and e-commerce platforms such as Shopify.
  • Basic understanding of the accounting cycle and three-way matching processes.
  • Attention to Detail:
    Exceptional accuracy and precision in financial record-keeping and data entry.
  • Organizational

    Skills:

    Strong ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize deadlines, and maintain organized records.
  • Communication:
    Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with team members and vendors.
  • Problem-Solving:
    Ability to identify and resolve discrepancies in financial records efficiently.
  • Integrity:
    High level of trustworthiness and confidentiality in handling sensitive financial information.
  • Support:
    Additional support tasks for the finance team as identified.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment with knowledge of cost accounting or inventory management.
  • Familiarity with managing separate financial records for Canadian and U.S. entities.
  • Experience with inter-company reconciliations.
  • Knowledge of sales tax regulations in Canada and the USA, particularly related to vendor invoicing.
