The Opportunity
A rapidly growing organization is seeking a highly motivated and detail-driven Cost Accountant to play a key role in building and strengthening cost and inventory accounting capabilities across U.S. and Canadian operations.
This individual will own the integrity of inventory valuation, cost structures, and cost of goods sold (COGS) while partnering closely with Operations, Supply Chain, and warehouse teams.
The role will help shape how the business measures unit economics, ensures accurate landed costs, and supports continued multi-warehouse expansion using Net Suite and integrated WMS tools.
What You Will DoCost & Inventory Accounting- Own and maintain standard costs, landed costs, and cost roll‑ups for equipment, materials, and parts
- Perform inventory valuation, reconcile inventory sub‑ledgers, and ensure accuracy across multiple warehouses and stocking locations
- Manage monthly and quarterly COGS close processes, including accruals, adjustments, and variance analysis
- Support cycle count processes through variance reporting and root‑cause analysis
- Review purchase price variance (PPV), freight variance, and material usage variance to explain and optimize cost performance
- Optimize item records, cost categories, inventory workflows, and replenishment methods within Net Suite
- Partner with warehouse teams and WMS providers to maintain accurate inventory transactions (receiving, transfers, returns, adjustments)
- Support process improvements across receiving, putaway, bill‑of‑material costing, and inter‑warehouse transfers
- Collaborate with Supply Chain to validate vendor charges, freight costs, and landed cost allocations
- Prepare month‑end inventory and COGS reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting documentation
- Assist in developing unit cost reporting, margin analysis, and operational dashboards
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls related to inventory and cost accounting
- Support budgeting and forecasting tied to materials, freight, and inventory performance
- Partner with Operations, Procurement, and installation/project teams to ensure accurate material costing
- Provide cost insights to support sourcing decisions and margin improvement initiatives
- Support leadership (Controller/CFO) with ad‑hoc cost analysis as the organization scales
- 5+ years of experience in cost accounting, inventory accounting, or manufacturing/distribution accounting
- Strong hands‑on experience with inventory workflows, cost roll‑ups, and reconciliations
- Net Suite experience strongly preferred
- Deep knowledge of GAAP
, cost accounting principles, and inventory valuation methods - Advanced spreadsheet and data analysis skills
- High attention to detail with strong problem‑solving ability
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- CPA or CPA candidate preferred (equivalent practical experience considered)
- Experience in multi‑location inventory environments or working with WMS tools is a plus
