Horizon Recruitment is recruiting for a Senior Accountant on a 1-year term to support the financial operations of large industrial client. Reporting to the Controller, this role helps ensure accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and smooth day-to-day accounting activities during a maternity leave coverage period.

This position plays an important role in maintaining compliance with IFRS, supporting audits, and delivering timely financial insights to management and external stakeholders. The role is fully in-person and based in North Vancouver.

Responsibilities
  • Manage full-cycle accounting activities in accordance with IFRS
  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
  • Oversee GST and PST filings and related compliance requirements
  • Support external audit processes and respond to auditor requests
  • Manage customer billing to ensure invoices are accurate and issued on time
  • Monitor incoming payments, oversee deposits, and manage daily banking activities
  • Partner with management to address overdue accounts and resolve payment issues
  • Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for shareholders and other stakeholders
  • Ensure accurate processing and reporting of labour costs
  • Maintain fixed asset and inventory systems, including depreciation and capital cost tracking
  • Support accounts payable activities and related documentation
  • Assist with union timesheet preparation
  • Contribute to budgeting and forecasting processes as needed
  • Support ERP and financial reporting systems by analyzing and converting operational data into meaningful insights
  • Help strengthen internal controls and safeguard company assets
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA designation or equivalent professional accounting certification preferred
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in industry or public practice
  • Strong knowledge of full-cycle accounting and IFRS
  • Experience supporting audits and preparing financial statements
  • Experience with large capital projects and asset capitalization is an asset
  • Advanced skills in MS Office and M365
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or JD Edwards is an asset
  • Experience with Power BI or Spreadsheet Server is a plus
  • Highly organized with strong time management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
Remuneration
  • $90,000 - $100,000
