Job Description & How to Apply Below

Cascadia Green Development is a North Vancouver-based real estate development and construction company focused on thoughtful, community-integrated residential, mixed-use, rental, and commercial projects. We are looking for a senior finance leader who can bring discipline, structure, and forward-looking financial leadership to our growing organization.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can oversee the accounting function while also supporting project financing, cash flow planning, lender reporting, investor reporting, and strategic decision-making.

Position Overview

The Director of Finance & Accounting will be responsible for leading Cascadia’s finance and accounting functions across corporate, development, and construction activities.

This role requires someone who is both technically strong in accounting and commercially minded in finance. The successful candidate must be comfortable moving between detailed accounting oversight, project-level reporting, cash flow forecasting, lender/investor communication, and executive-level financial analysis.

This is not a purely back-office accounting role and not a purely high-level finance role. We are looking for someone who can build reliable financial systems, strengthen reporting discipline, and provide practical financial insight to support business decisions.

Key Responsibilities Accounting, Reporting & Controls
  • Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting process.
  • Manage month-end close, reconciliations, journal entries, intercompany transactions, and reporting packages.
  • Ensure accurate project accounting across development and construction entities.
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll coordination, GST/PST, and corporate tax support.
  • Maintain strong internal controls, approval processes, and documentation standards.
  • Coordinate with external accountants, tax advisors, auditors, lenders, and other professional advisors.
  • Ensure financial statements are accurate, timely, and management-ready.
Project Finance & Development Reporting
  • Prepare and maintain project budgets, cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and cost-to-complete reports.
  • Support construction draw requests, lender reporting, and financing compliance.
  • Track project-level profitability, commitments, contingencies, risks, and funding requirements.
  • Work closely with development, construction, preconstruction, and executive teams to keep financial reporting aligned with project realities.
  • Assist with feasibility analysis, pro formas, project financing packages, and scenario analysis for new and existing projects.
Cash Flow, Forecasting & Capital Planning
  • Lead corporate and project-level cash flow planning.
  • Prepare short-term and long-term forecasts for executive review.
  • Identify upcoming capital needs, funding gaps, and timing risks.
  • Support bank financing, refinancing, investor reporting, and capital planning.
  • Help management make informed decisions around project timing, commitments, financing, and liquidity.
Leadership & Systems
  • Manage and support accounting staff, bookkeepers, and external service providers.
  • Improve financial systems, reporting processes, approval workflows, and management dashboards.
  • Help build scalable finance and accounting processes as the company grows.
  • Provide clear, practical financial reporting to the CEO, COO, and executive team.
  • Act as a senior financial partner to leadership, not just a reporting function.
Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a senior finance/accounting professional with experience in real estate development, construction, project accounting, or a similarly complex multi-entity business.

They should be detail-oriented, disciplined, practical, and comfortable in an entrepreneurial environment. This person must be able to bring structure without bureaucracy and provide financial clarity in a fast-moving business.

Qualifications
  • CPA designation strongly preferred.
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
  • Experience in real estate development, construction, property management, project finance, or investment reporting is strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of project accounting, job costing,…
