Senior Transportation Planner (Temporary Full‑time)

We invite a senior transportation planner to join our Transportation Planning and Design team for approximately fifteen months. This role reports to the Manager of Transportation Planning & Design and will be a strategic lead in advancing the Transportation Network Plan and developing a modernized data strategy. You will oversee multi‑modal studies at the neighborhood and corridor levels, provide expert policy guidance to shape infrastructure design and curb access strategy, develop robust business cases for future investment, and serve as a mentor to junior planners.
Responsibilities- Lead the development and implementation of the Transportation Network Plan and modernized data strategy.
- Oversee multi‑modal studies at neighborhood and corridor levels.
- Provide policy guidance for infrastructure design and curb access strategy.
- Develop business cases for future transportation investment.
- Mentor and support junior planners across a diverse portfolio of urban mobility initiatives.
- University degree in a related discipline, plus a post‑graduate degree in Urban Planning and/or Engineering (or equivalent combination of training and experience).
- Demonstrated experience in advancing complex, strategic transportation planning work.
- Strong communication, relationship‑building and organizational skills.
- Ability to influence and inspire multi‑disciplined teams.
- Eligibility for membership in the Planning Institute of B.C. and the Canadian Institute of Planners.
- Attendance at evening Council, committee and public meetings is required.
Salary $66.13 to $78.36 per hour (Pay Grade 33 – 2026 rates).
Hours of WorkThe City works on a compressed schedule of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, with one scheduled day off (Monday or Friday) approximately each three‑week scheduling cycle.
