YourRole & Impact
As a Safety Advisor you’ll be at the heart of our operations—supporting crews, collaborating with project teams, and advancing a proactive safety culture across our projects. You’ll provide on‑site leadership, coach safe work behaviours, and ensure regulatory and COR compliance while supporting the safe and successful execution of our work.
What You’ll Do Lead Safety Where the Work Happens- Support and continuously improve Van Pile’s HSE programs, procedures, and initiatives
- Ensure compliance with WorkSafeBC, BCCSA COR, company standards, and project‑specific requirements
- Develop and maintain safety documentation, including project safety plans, hazard assessments, and safe work plans
- Conduct regular site inspections and safety observations
- Identify hazards, assess risks, and work with teams to implement practical controls
- Provide hands‑on coaching and guidance to crews and supervisors
- Support the planning and execution of new and high‑risk work activities
- Deliver site orientations, toolbox talks, and safety meetings
- Actively promote a positive, collaborative safety culture where everyone is involved and accountable
- Assist with incident, near‑miss, and hazard investigations, including root cause analysis
- Prepare clear reports and recommend corrective and preventative actions
- Track and analyze safety metrics, reporting trends and insights to leadership
- Serve as a key point of contact for safety‑related concerns on site
- Communicate issues that may impact schedule, cost, or operations
- Work closely with project teams, HSE professionals, and subcontractors to resolve safety challenges
- 7–10+ years of hands‑on field safety experience, ideally in marine, heavy civil, or industrial construction
- Post‑secondary education or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety (or equivalent experience)
- Strong knowledge of WorkSafeBC regulations and construction safety practices
- Experience working within a COR‑certified safety management system
- Natural ability to influence, coach, and build trust in the field
- Confident communicator with strong written and verbal skills
- Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and reliable
- Proactive, solutions‑focused mindset with sound judgment
- Comfortable working in fast‑paced, changing project environments
- Willing to work shifts, non‑standard hours, and travel as required
- Valid driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle
- Safety designation such as CRSP, RCSO, CHSC, or actively working toward certification
- Occupational First Aid Level 1 or 3 (or willingness to obtain)
- BCCSA COR internal auditor experience is an asset
Salary: $90 - $107k per annum
The actual salary offered will be determined based on job‑related factors including relevant experience and company policy.
