Job Summary
This intermediate-level role offers a balance of office-based civil design and on-site construction inspection. You will be involved in projects from early design through to construction, gaining broad exposure and hands-on experience across multiple disciplines and project types.

Primary Objectives
Deliver high-quality civil design and field inspection services for municipal infrastructure and land development projects, including water, wastewater, roads, and drainage systems.
Support project delivery from concept through construction by coordinating design, documentation, and site activities.
Ensure construction works are completed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, applicable standards, and regulatory requirements.
Contribute to successful project outcomes through effective communication, problem-solving, and collaboration with internal teams, clients, and contractors.

Job Responsibilities
Prepare civil design drawings and models (grading, servicing, roads, and drainage) using Civil 3D from conceptual design through to tender and construction.
Conduct quantity take-offs and prepare cost estimates/opinions of probable cost for civil works.
Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and other disciplines to ensure integrated and accurate design deliverables.
Support permitting and approvals with municipal, provincial, and federal authorities.
Conduct site inspections to monitor construction progress, quality, and compliance with contract documents and MMCD standards.
Prepare field reports, deficiency lists, and inspection documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
Liaise with contractors, clients, and regulators to address site issues, respond to RFIs, and support contract administration.
Review shop drawings and contractor submittals for general conformance with design intent.
Monitor and report on erosion and sediment control measures and environmental compliance on active construction sites.
Identify and communicate design or construction issues, proposing practical solutions in collaboration with the project team.
Participate in project meetings, including design coordination and site meetings, as required.
Travel to and work in remote project locations within British Columbia as needed.

Skills and Qualifications
Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or related field.
5+ years of experience designing civil linear infrastructure, earthworks, grading and drainage in Canada, preferably BC.
Proficiency in Civil 3D, including corridors, profiles, cross-sections, and pipe works.
Strong understanding of municipal engineering design standards, including MMCD.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear technical documentation and reports.
Effective organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team environment.
Willingness and ability to work in remote communities in British Columbia.
Valid BC Drivers License.
Registration ASTTBC (or eligibility) is considered an asset.
