The OpportunityCarlson Construction Group is seeking an experienced Safety Advisor / Construction Safety Officer (CSO) to support one of our major local project sites in North Vancouver.
This is an excellent opportunity to play a hands‑on role in maintaining and strengthening our safety culture while contributing to a high‑profile project in a fast‑paced construction environment.
This is a project‑based, fixed‑term position, operating on a 10 days on / 4 days off rotation.
About the RoleAs a Construction Safety Officer, you will be a key member of the on‑site project team, responsible for monitoring compliance, leading safety initiatives, supporting workers and subcontractors, and ensuring the highest standards of health and safety are met.
Your work will directly protect our people and support the successful execution of a complex and dynamic construction project.
- Contract Duration: 9 months
- Schedule: 10 days on / 4 days off
In this role, you will:
- Maintain and manage safety records, incident data, and compliance tracking
- Review safety documentation for accuracy and provide coaching and feedback
- Support safety planning for new work scopes and deliver worker orientations
- Lead toolbox talks, safety meetings, and training sessions
- Monitor employee and subcontractor safety compliance and enforce regulations as required
- Conduct site inspections, hazard assessments, and incident investigations
- Keep management informed of safety issues that may impact project operations
- Promote and uphold safe working conditions across the site
We’re looking for a safety professional who brings:
- Minimum 5 years of field safety experience
, preferably in industrial or heavy construction - Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to positively influence safe work practices
- Post‑secondary education in a related field
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational skills with a results‑driven mindset - Willingness to work shifts and travel outside the Lower Mainland as required
- Preferred safety designation such as CRSP, RCSO, CHSC, CSS, CIH, or ROH
- Occupational First Aid Level 3 (or willingness to obtain)
- Experience with BCCSA COR programs and auditing
- High personal, professional, and ethical standards
- Strong analytical thinking, judgment, and initiative
- Proven relationship‑building and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
