Grade 1-5 Movement & Arts Teacher (0.42 FTE)

The Grades 1-5 Movement & Arts Teacher has a passion for Waldorf education and inspires a love of learning in children and youth. Key qualities are strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment across departments. With the responsibility of carrying a class of up to 30 students, the successful candidate will have excellent class management and organizational skills.

Position

Summary

The Grade 1-5 Movement & Arts Teacher is responsible for teaching Physical & Health Education, Arts Education including dance Arts, and English Language Arts in Grades 1-5 at the Vancouver Waldorf School.

Within Movement & Arts Teaching, the responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

• lesson planning & classroom preparation;
• teaching track classes in Grades 1-5;
• student assessment; and
• report writing.

The Movement & Arts teacher will also be responsible for:

• attendance at faculty meetings;
• school liaison for parents; and
• attendance at all school events and faculty meetings.

Education and Skill Requirements:

• BC Teacher Certification
• 5 years or more of Waldorf Class Teaching is preferred
• Waldorf Training Certificate
• Fluent in written and spoken English.
• Excellent organizational skills
• Experience of working with children 6 to 12 years old
• Competency with word processing
• Compatibility with existing Faculty, volunteers and parents

Terms of employment:

Permanent, part-time (0.42 FTE). Specific days and hours are determined by the employment agreement.

Remuneration: $53,000.00 to $85,00.00/year prorated to FTE based on experience and credentials. Employee benefits include tuition as a taxable benefit, and an Extended Health Benefits Plan, which includes a Dental Plan, Life Insurance Plan, short and long term disability plan, and other health benefits for full time employees.
