Do you have a passion for education, advocacy, and uplifting Indigenous learners? The Squamish Nation’s Ta7lnew̓ás Education Department is hiring a Post-Secondary School Advocate to support the success and empowerment of Squamish students pursuing certificate, diploma, and degree programs. This role centers on meaningful engagement, mentorship, and community relationships. You’ll walk beside learners on their journey, providing culturally grounded support that empowers academic achievement and celebrates Squamish identity and potential.
What You’ll Do
Advocate for Squamish Nation post-secondary students, supporting them from planning through graduation.Help students explore career and education options, assess academic readiness, and navigate application processes.Provide ongoing academic advising, mentorship access, and tutoring coordination.Support high school outreach in the Squamish Valley 2–3 times per year to promote post-secondary pathways.Administer and manage the Squamish Nation Post-Secondary Program, including student funding allocations and compliance with our Post-Secondary Education Program Policy and Procedure Handbook.Monitor student progress, offering personalized support to enhance retention and graduation outcomes.Collaborate with post-secondary institutions and serve on relevant committees to ensure supportive learning environments for Squamish students.Maintain detailed student records and prepare reports for planning and program evaluation.Contribute to continuous improvement and innovation within the Education, Employment & Training team.What We’re Looking For
A diploma or degree in Education, Social Work, Indigenous Studies, Business, Career Counselling or a related field.Experience working with First Nations learners, especially in post-secondary or youth mentoring environments.Knowledge of Indigenous education policies and barriers impacting access and success.Demonstrated understanding of Squamish Nation values, language, and educational priorities.Strong interpersonal, communication, and motivational skills.Comfort working with data, budgets, and program reporting.Excellent time management, organization, and problem-solving ability.Respect for confidentiality and ethical student support practices.A valid BC Driver’s License (Class

Salary: $75,000 - $112,500
Candidates are typically offered compensation between the beginning to the midpoint of the range. Weare committed to providing a fair and equitable package that reflects the value an individual brings to the organization.
