Casual Skating Instructor / Attendant

Located on the traditional, ancestral and unceded lands of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations, West Vancouver is a vibrant community on the North Shore with parks, beaches, and extensive sports, recreation, and arts amenities. These positions instruct and evaluate individuals learning to skate, from basic to advanced skills. Duties include report card writing, incident report writing, and delivering lessons based on progression plans.

• Instruct and evaluate skaters of varying skill levels.
• Write report cards and incident reports.
• Maintain lesson plans and ensure safety protocols.
• Promote an engaging, creative, and fun learning environment.

• Previous experience teaching or coaching basic skate lessons, hockey, or figure skating.
• Strong communication, customer service, organizational, and program planning skills.
• Ability to demonstrate and follow a lesson plan based on skating levels and progressions.
• Standard First Aid with CPR-C and AED Certificate issued by a recognized Canadian body.
• Valid police information check and copy of credentials.

Union (WVMEA) – Casual

Up to 25 hours per week. Hours and days of work may vary.

• Junior Skate Instructor/Attendant – $18.73 per hour plus 14% in lieu of benefits.
• Skate Instructor I/Attendant – $22.86 per hour plus 14% in lieu of benefits.
• Skate Instructor II/Attendant – $25.21 per hour plus 14% in lieu of benefits.
