Position: Intern, Learning and Development (8 Months)

Through the National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS), the Government of Canada has embarked on one of the largest procurement projects since the Second World War. The NSS is a nation-building effort to create a sustainable Canadian shipbuilding industry, secure long-term job opportunities and build the next generation of ships for the Canadian Coast Guard and Royal Canadian Navy. Through its NSS–related work, Seaspan Shipyards is owning the redevelopment of our domestic shipbuilding industry on the West Coast and delivering on the promise of ships built in Canada, by Canadians.

The Intern, Learning & Development is responsible for the effective coordination and administration of learning and development activities. This role is responsible for the logistics of scheduling and managing training for digital and in-person training sessions and maintaining detailed training records. This role also involves collaborating with relevant stakeholders and ensuring that all individuals are appropriately enrolled in necessary training modules based on their roles and responsibilities.

In addition, tracking training progress and maintaining learning records within the Learning Management System.

Note:

Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 889 Harbourside Dr, North Vancouver.

What you'll do

  • Manage training records including the monitoring of missing, incomplete, or overdue training, and escalate issues as required to the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Coordinate the scheduling of training sessions including room bookings, materials preparations, and communication with participants.
  • Enroll employees in required training programs based on company/business unit training requirements, role changes, position level or as determined by Seaspan leadership.
  • Gathers and analyzes feedback and learning evaluations from training participants and stakeholders for recommendations to continuously improve program content and delivery.
  • Assist with development and maintenance of training materials, including workbooks, PowerPoint presentation and other learning resources.

  • Enrollment in either Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business Administration, Psychology, Education, or a related degree program
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities

  • We require a full-time commitment Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week with an hourly rate of $26.00/hour.

    Start Date of Internship:
    Monday, May 4th, 2026.

    End Date of Internship:
    Friday, December 18th, 2026 (8-Months).
