Position: Continuing - French Immersion Elementary/Secondary Teacher FTE up to 1.0

French Immersion Teacher – Continuing, Temporary & TTOC

Contract up to 1.0 FTE.

Role

The French Immersion Teacher will design and deliver instruction for all subjects in French to students who are not native French speakers. The goal is to achieve in the French program the same level of learning as students in the English program.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Education (Elementary/Secondary) from a recognised university with a focus on French Immersion.
  • Valid BC Teaching certificate or eligibility for certification through the BCTeacher Regulation Branch (TRB).
  • Successful experience teaching French Immersion at the elementary or secondary level.
  • Native‑like fluency in French and English.
  • Completion of senior university coursework in French Immersion methodology or a French Immersion training programme.
  • Knowledge of content and processes contained within the Elementary/Secondary French Immersion Curriculum.

  • Experience designing and applying varied assessment techniques to measure and monitor student progress.
  • Commitment to professional development and to applying new methodologies and strategies to create a creative, engaged, and inclusive classroom experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply relevant computer technologies to teaching and learning.
  • Collaboration with students, parents and staff to strengthen the school as a learning community.
