The Woodfibre LNG Project is located approximately 7 km west-southwest of Squamish, British Columbia. It involves the construction and operation of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility on the previous Woodfibre pulp mill site, which would have a storage capacity of 250,000 m3 and would produce approximately 2.1 million tons per year of LNG.

Job SummaryWoodfibre LNG is seeking an experienced Instrumentation Technician to join our dynamic team. Reporting to the Electrical & Instrumentation Supervisor
, the successful candidate will work closely with the Operations team handling preventative, predictive, break‑in, routine, turnaround and emergency work. Key responsibilities include installing, calibrating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide range of instrumentation and process equipment at the Woodfibre LNG facility. This role offers an opportunity to be part of a dedicated team, ensuring the safe, reliable, efficient, and environmentally responsible operation of the plant.
- Support start‑up and operations of the LNG plant at both the Squamish site as well as our yard in China if required.
- Troubleshoot and repair process control instrumentation such as transmitters, controllers, analyzers, gas chromatographs, control valves, fire and gas detection systems, etc.
- Troubleshoot and repair various types of instrumentation, electrical and control equipment and continuous emission monitoring system (CEMS).
- Inspect and test operation of instruments and systems to diagnose faults using pneumatic, electrical and electronic testing devices and precision measuring instruments.
- Perform scheduled preventive, predictive, and emergency maintenance work, complete test and maintenance reporting and history documentation.
- Perform mechanical work associated with instrument repair and modification while having the ability to remove and install small piping and tubing.
- Rebuild and calibrate transmitters and control valves.
- Provide day‑to‑day support for ensuring maximum reliability and uptime of WLNG equipment, work towards achieving reliability goals and measuring effectiveness of reliability programs.
- Review process flow drawings, equipment lists, and specifications to resolve work procedures.
- Collaborate with internal teams and third‑party service providers.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of maintenance key performance indicators.
- 100% compliance with company HSE policies and guidelines.
- Champion HSE as a member of the LNG Operations Team.
- Lead HSE shift meetings, safety walks, and audits when required.
- Timely intervention to mitigate risks and ensure the safety of personnel and plant.
- Demonstrate a personal commitment to influence overall safety behavior in the plant.
- Safeguarding systems check‑lists are implemented/completed by Shift Operations to agreed frequencies and standards.
- Execute plant‑wide operations hazards awareness program.
- Initiate inputs for plant risk register and mitigation tracking process for operations.
- Minimum of 5+ years of relevant industrial maintenance experience.
- A valid BC Journeyman Instrumentation Technician ticket or Red Seal certification.
- Preference will be given to candidates with the following:
- Dual Instrumentation & Electrical ticket.
- Gas chromatograph and analyzer experience.
- Proficiency with Yokogawa control systems.
- Commissioning and start‑up experience.
- Knowledgeable of DCS systems, PLC’s, and HMI’s.
- Previous experience using an AMS an asset.
- Willingness to comply with WLNG’s drug‑free and harassment‑free work environment and comply with all safety policies and procedures.
- Undergo a pre‑placement medical assessment of fitness for duty, and pre‑site access testing for alcohol and specified drugs.
- Energetic in pursuit of continuous improvement processes.
- Experience working with large multi‑disciplinary teams, and contractors in a multicultural environment is an asset.
