OverviewThe Planner I, Master Scheduler supports multiple shipbuilding programs, including JSS/Polar and future initiatives, within the IMS Planning organization. The role provides planning support to the Planning Lead and Team Supervisor across key program phases, including Engineering & Design, Procurement, Build, and Test & Trials. The position is responsible for developing and maintaining integrated, resource‑loaded master schedules to a high standard of quality and integrity.
Schedules are developed and managed to be robust, reliable, and suitable for multiple program control needs, supporting Earned Value Management (EVMS), resource planning, MRP/ERP system interfaces, and schedule analyses such as critical path, float analysis, and reporting. These requirements are considered from initial schedule development through ongoing maintenance, with close coordination across internal stakeholders and external subcontractors to support program execution.
- Utilize Primavera P6 to develop and maintain Level 2, 3, and 4 schedules that support alignment across different levels of planning and scheduling, enabling schedule adherence, forecasting, and management reporting.
- Develop and maintain Level 3 and Level 4 schedules for project phases including Engineering, Procurement, and Build, ensuring alignment with program milestones and compliance with Customer and VSY requirements.
- Maintain schedule logic, integrity, and data quality to support performance measurement, reporting, and risk‑informed analyses.
- Develop and maintain individual and integrated resource profiles within Primavera P6 to support planning and controls requirements.
- Support and maintain effective schedule data interfaces between Primavera P6 schedules and MRP/ERP systems, where applicable.
- Prepare and distribute weekly, monthly, and adhoc schedule reports and analyses to support program visibility and performance tracking.
- Provide planning and scheduling inputs to support decision‑making by the Planning Lead, Team Supervisor, and broader program stakeholders.
- Maintain assigned portions of the resource‑loaded Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) to support EVMS, resource planning, and automated metric outputs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of planning and scheduling experience in a large manufacturing environment, preferably shipbuilding.
- Certification in Planning, Production Control, or Project Management is desirable.
- Working knowledge of shipbuilding operations and the interaction between engineering, procurement, production, and test activities.
- Proficiency in Primavera P6.
- Experience working with MRP/ERP systems in a manufacturing environment.
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of EVMS concepts and schedule‑based performance monitoring.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively, manage multiple priorities, and operate under guidance as a key member of the IMS Planning team.
$40.00 - $49.00 per hour
