Chief Engineer

Position: Chief Engineer at BC Ferries
Location: West Vancouver

Join BC Ferries in Horseshoe Bay as a Chief Engineer in this flexible relief position. Oversee the safe operation of ship systems while ensuring maintenance and compliance.

As Chief Engineer, you will report to the Senior Chief Engineer while managing ship propulsion and power systems. This role requires strong leadership and technical expertise, where you will supervise maintenance, plan emergency repairs, and liaise with regulatory bodies. Make an impact by ensuring high operational performance and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure safe operation of vessels' power systems

• Monitor overall condition and structure of the ship

• Plan and direct emergency repair activities

• Supervise maintenance and conduct inspections

• Conduct emergency drills and crew training

Requirements:

• Transport Canada 1st Class Motor Certificate

• Previous experience as Chief Engineer or similar

• Proven leadership and communication skills

• Proficiency with MS Office applications

• Experience in supervisory roles
