Job Description
Payroll Specialist II responsible for the administration of the organization’s salaried employee payroll, including account reconciliation, reporting, and documentation. This is a 9‑month limited‑term employment with eligible benefits and pro‑rated vacation. The position qualifies for an optional hybrid work schedule after 90 days of onsite work and onboarding, and employees will be subject to the terms of the Flexible Work Policy Agreement.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Prepare salaried payroll, payments and remittances (base & variable pay, contributions, deductions, taxes & T4s).
- Calculate retro activity on specific payments.
- Prepare journal entries and reconciliations (payroll, paid time‑off, and other types of accruals).
- Balance and file tax‑related reports.
- Update scheduled reports and provide data analysis upon request.
- Ensure data and transaction accuracy through meticulous control and validation processes.
- Answer internal and external payroll inquiries (e.g., employees, finance departments, government agencies, external auditors).
- Maintain employee records.
- Document and review payroll‑related procedures.
- Provide support to the Payroll Manager.
- College diploma in accounting or a related human resources program.
- Minimum 3–5 years of wide‑range full‑cycle payroll & accounting experience in a dynamic, high‑paced, high‑volume environment.
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification.
- Understanding of payroll & accounting concepts and best business practices.
- Ability to accurately process payroll in a timely manner.
- Organizational and time‑management skills.
- Proficient user of payroll software (in‑house systems – Oracle, JD Edwards, People Soft).
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Ability to communicate effectively in a business environment.

The estimated salary for this position is $73,800 - $90,200. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful candidate’s skillset and experience as well as position location and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Company’s sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
