Position Summary

The Systems Administrator is responsible for the overall reliability, security, and performance of the firm’s IT infrastructure and cloud environment. This role acts as the operational lead for the IT team, coordinating day‑to‑day priorities while ensuring systems remain secure, stable, and aligned with business needs. The position serves as the final escalation point for complex infrastructure and system issues and works closely with the Director of Technology on security, vendor management, and operational planning.

Key Responsibilities Infrastructure & Operations
  • Maintain and support core infrastructure, including servers, network, cloud services, and enterprise systems
  • Ensure system availability, performance, and reliability across both offices
  • Oversee patching, maintenance, backup, and disaster recovery activities
Cybersecurity
  • Support and enforce security controls, policies, and standards
  • Monitor infrastructure security posture and coordinate remediation activities
  • Co‑ordinate security audits, compliance requirements, and ongoing risk management
Operational Coordination
  • Set day‑to‑day and weekly priorities for the IT team
  • Coordinate workload, coverage, and escalation flow
  • Act as operational point of contact when the Director is unavailable
Escalation & Support
  • Act as the final escalation point for complex technical and infrastructure issues
  • Provide guidance and direction to team members on troubleshooting and resolution
  • Support critical incidents and after‑hours issues as required
Vendor & Technology Management
  • Coordinate with vendors and service providers to support infrastructure and systems
  • Participate in evaluating and implementing new technologies
  • Maintain awareness of system performance, capacity, and future needs
Qualifications and Experience
  • 7–10 years of experience in systems administration, infrastructure, or a related role
  • Strong experience with Microsoft environments (Windows Server, Microsoft 365, Entra )
  • Experience with networking, virtualization, storage, and backup solutions
  • Solid understanding of cybersecurity practices and controls
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure and system issues
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills in a fast‑paced environment
  • Experience in a law firm or professional services environment is an asset
