Position: Intern, Supply Chain (4 months)

Through the National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS), the Government of Canada has embarked on one of the largest procurement projects since the Second World War. The NSS is a nation‑building effort to create a sustainable Canadian shipbuilding industry, secure long‑term job opportunities and build the next generation of ships for the Canadian Coast Guard and Royal Canadian Navy. Through its NSS‑related work, Seaspan Shipyards is owning the redevelopment of our domestic shipbuilding industry on the West Coast and delivering on the promise of ships built in Canada, by Canadians.

The Intern, Supply Chain will support day‑to‑day procurement and demand planning operations by ensuring materials are accurately tracked, ordered, and delivered to meet business needs. You’ll process material transfers, create requisitions for emergent demand, and maintain critical system data to support planning accuracy and ERP readiness. This role involves monitoring purchase orders, updating delivery timelines, and collaborating closely with cross‑functional teams—including logistics, operations, and quality—to resolve issues and ensure material availability.

You will also contribute to data clean‑up initiatives, assign part attributes, and help maintain system integrity, gaining hands‑on experience in supply chain processes while developing strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills in a fast‑paced environment.

Note:
Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on‑site based at 2 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver.

What you’ll do
  • Process material transfers and support material disposition reviews assigned to Procurement Demand Planning.
  • Create manual requisitions for emergent demand not captured in forecast, Category B requisition requests, and Estimate to Procure (ETP) requisitions approved by engineering and supply chain leadership.
  • Maintain system data to support continuous conversion readiness for Oracle go‑live activities.
  • Clean up aging requisitions and assist with data accuracy improvements in planning and procurement systems.
  • Assign and maintain part attributes for new part numbers, including purchase group, preferred supplier, lead time, buyer, and planner information.
  • Review purchased parts to ensure correct system attributes are assigned and coordinate with planners to complete updates and data clean‑up.
  • Create backup IFS requisition files required by demand planning in support of pre‑go‑live activities.
  • Provide support for pipes and fittings assessments and requisition releases during team coverage periods.
  • Monitor order progress, track purchase order status, and flag late deliveries for follow‑up.
  • Update planned delivery dates (PDD) on purchase orders to maintain accurate supply visibility.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, including logistics, warehouse, quality control, and operations, to resolve issues and support material readiness.
  • Help ensure purchased materials arrive on time to meet operational requirements.
What you’ll bring
  • Enrollment in a 2nd or 3rd year degree program in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, Logistics, or a related field.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems such as Oracle or IFS is an asset.
  • Previous internship, co‑op, or administrative experience in supply chain, procurement, logistics, or operations is an asset.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and follow up on priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with cross‑functional teams.
  • Problem‑solving mindset with the ability to identify and escalate issues proactively.
  • Comfortable working with data and maintaining accuracy in planning and procurement systems.
  • Basic understanding of supply chain, procurement, logistics, or inventory processes.

  • A supportive learning environment, great team culture and hands‑on experience and training.
  • Opportunity to grow your career and connect with like‑minded students.
  • To assist those that are using transit, we operate a complimentary shuttle bus Monday through Friday with various pick up and drop off points…
