Overview
Position:
Registered Nurse – Labour & Delivery, Sechelt Hospital, Sechelt, BC. Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking a registered nurse to join the Labour & Delivery unit. The salary range for this position is CAD $41.42/Hr. – CAD $55.91/Hr.
Note:
A resume and cover letter are required to apply for this specialty training opportunity. Eligibility for the post-basic training education is prioritized to applicants with 2 years of recent acute med/surg experience; preference to applicants with high-acuity training. The post-basic training program includes online theory and on-site practicum with a commitment to remain with VCH for at least 18 months after completion to consolidate and apply skills in the specialty area.
Training timeline (subject to modification based on previous coursework):
Online Theory (if required) Apr. 7 – Jun. 26, 2026;
Full-time training at BCIT & practicum locations Sept. 8 – Nov. 27, 2026. Travel to lower mainland required during practicums; travel expenses reimbursed according to VCH policy.
Applicants must successfully complete the post-basic training education prior to working in the Department. The training is funded by VCH for required courses.

- Demonstrate continuous improvement and a best-practices approach in nursing.
- Maintain and advance clinical competence; participate in designated hospital committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned.
- Current full or eligible registration as a Registered Nurse in British Columbia.
- Experience in labour and delivery or high-acuity perinatal care is preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team; strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Willingness to travel for practicum components as required.
The hours of work and work locations may change in accordance with operational requirements and the collective agreement. All health care workers in publicly funded facilities may be required to disclose vaccination history and infectious disease information as part of onboarding and ongoing safety practices.
