Lead, Knits & Wovens

As the Lead, Knits & Wovens, you lead a specialized team of experts, engineers and product developers through the testing and validation of technical sets.

Technical sets are combinations of materials, technologies and construction methods that require testing to validate feasibility, durability, strength, manufacturability, repairability and disassembly. These sets include new material applications, assembly techniques or sequences that have not been previously tested or commercialized by Arc’teryx.

Your efforts focus on testing and validation of materials and construction. Your innovative, solutions‑focused approach to proof of concept ensures that each new development meets Arc’teryx standards, design intent and downstream requirements. You demonstrate integrity in your work, lead by example and provide overall support and coaching to your team.

Core responsibilities
  • Support the Senior Manager, Proof of Concept Validation in building and coaching a team of technical experts, engineers and developers, and owning day‑to‑day leadership and development of the team.
  • Own and develop accurate documentation of testing and validation methods and results while ensuring parameters are accurately documented.
  • Partner with Compliance to identify changes in regulations/standards and how these changes impact constructions.
  • Facilitate regular communication between cross‑functional groups to establish and maintain practices for smooth transition to downstream teams.
  • Partner with Product Integrity to ensure that all constructions/technical sets meet our standards.
  • Partner with Product Operations on calendar requirements, ensuring timelines are met throughout the proof‑of‑concept process by managing workloads among team members.
  • Provide regular reporting of metrics to proof‑of‑concept leadership team.
  • Accurately produce technical drawings of approved constructions and maintain knits and wovens construction and testing libraries.
  • Manage a limited repertoire of testing and validating materials and construction as the technical expert, ensuring Arc’teryx brand standards are consistently met.
  • Communicate seasonal technical sets validation in the transition to execution.
  • Serve as point of contact for troubleshooting any sample or technical sets challenges during execution and commercialization phases.
Future projects
  • Support strategic needs through contributions to high‑visibility projects.
  • Project manage key initiatives.
  • Work directly with cross‑functional partners on any key developments.
Qualifications
  • 8+ years of product development experience, with a minimum of 2 years at a senior or expert level in technical/innovative apparel and equipment, or equivalent experience.
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent industry training, certification or related business experience.
  • Complete understanding of the product lifecycle process—from ideation to consumer.
  • Comprehensive understanding of design intent, product aesthetics, construction, production and fit.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills.
  • Strong leadership skills with an aptitude for coaching and mentoring teams.
  • Extensive knowledge of raw materials, technical construction and sourcing.
  • Experience effectively communicating with and traveling to domestic and offshore vendors and manufacturers.
  • Experience in product costing and negotiation skills.
  • Detail‑oriented and accurate with strong organizational skills.
  • Goal driven with a results‑oriented attitude.
  • Strong prioritization skills.
  • Strong computer skills in Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Office.
