Junior or Intermediate Hydrologist

We are seeking a Junior to Intermediate Hydrologist to join our dynamic Water Resources Group in North Vancouver or New Westminster. The role supports the coordination and execution of field programs and the hydrology components of environmental management projects.
The ideal candidate has training in hydrology, hydrogeology, and climatology and experience leading hydrologic field programs that include station installation. This position offers significant career development and advancement, including the opportunity to train colleagues in reproducible data science.
Responsibilities- Ensure compliance with Hatfield’s Health and Safety Management Plan, the law, and client health and safety protocols.
- Prepare for, lead, and/or participate in field programs required for hydrologic data collection and monitoring.
- Mentor junior staff on equipment installation, data collection, and monitoring activities.
- Maintain and calibrate equipment to meet operational and field requirements.
- Compile, manage, and assess hydrologic, water‑use, water‑quality, and other environmental data.
- Support ongoing data‑management and analysis components of assigned projects.
- Support reporting to clients and regulatory agencies, including drafting technical report sections and data summaries.
- Communicate technical information efficiently and effectively (verbal and written).
- B.Sc. or technical diploma in natural/environmental sciences with formal training in hydrology or physical geography.
- Minimum one year of experience with field programs, including surface‑water or climate monitoring instrumentation or investigation.
- Ability and interest to undertake fieldwork in a range of locations and weather conditions, including remote sites and camp stays.
- Comfortable using technology and a variety of environmental monitoring systems such as data loggers and software packages.
- Experience in project coordination, field project management, or other project‑management roles.
- Experience and interest in data management, compilation, and analysis.
- Attention to detail and an understanding of the importance of adherence to field SOPs and good data collection practices.
- Ability to work as part of a team with varying levels of experience while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Ability to work in a dynamic consulting environment that requires flexibility and willingness to work overtime in support of field programs.
- Must be able to drive a pickup truck and have a valid driver’s license for the past three years with a clean driving abstract.

Salary Range: $52k–$100k. We welcome applicants of all levels. Please note that, during our assessment of your qualifications, we retain the right to adjust the seniority classification accordingly.
