Leadership Course Instructor, Waterfront National Lifeguard

The West Vancouver Community Services Department is currently seeking a Leadership Course Instructor to join our team. The position is responsible for:

· Planning and delivering National Lifeguard – Waterfront certification courses in accordance with Lifesaving Society standards;

· Teaching waterfront lifeguarding skills, rescue techniques, surveillance, teamwork, leadership, and emergency response;

· Evaluating candidates fairly and accurately using approved Lifesaving Society assessment tools;

· Promoting professional conduct, safety awareness, and leadership development among participants;

· Ensuring all safety protocols, risk management practices, and emergency procedures are followed;

· Maintaining accurate records, attendance, evaluations, and certification documentation;

· Communicating effectively with participants, staff, and supervisors regarding course progress and expectations;

· Inspecting, setting up, and maintaining instructional and safety equipment; and

· Responding appropriately to incidents and provide first aid when required.

Required current Licenses and Certifications include:

· Standard First Aid with CPR-C and AED;

· National Lifeguard Instructor/Examiner National Lifeguard Waterfront

The preferred candidate will have 1 or more years of experience teaching National Lifeguard Waterfront.

The successful candidate will be required to supply a police information check with vulnerable sector information and a copy of their credentials.
