HGV Class 1 Driver tamper​/day shift

Job Overview

We are seeking a professional HGV Class 1 Driver to operate tamper/day shift lorries on a full-time basis. This role involves the safe and efficient transportation of materials, primarily using tipping trailer, to various delivery points. The successful candidate will be responsible for adhering to all safety regulations and ensuring timely deliveries. This position offers an excellent opportunity for experienced drivers with a passion for commercial driving and logistics.

Responsibilities

Operate HGV Class 1 lorries, primarily tipping vehicles, in compliance with all road safety and company regulations
Safely load, secure, and unload cargo, including specialised tamper equipment
Conduct pre-journey vehicle inspections and report any defects or issues promptly
Plan routes effectively to meet delivery schedules and optimise fuel efficiency
Maintain accurate delivery documentation and logs in accordance with legal requirements
Assist with the loading and unloading process when necessary, ensuring cargo is secured correctly
Follow all health and safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment at all times

Experience

Proven experience as a commercial driver, preferably with delivery driver experience involving tipping lorries
Valid UK HGV Class 1 licence with a clean driving record
Experience operating tipping vehicles and handling specialised equipment such as tampers is desirable
Knowledge of road safety regulations and best practices for secure cargo transportation
Ability to navigate efficiently using GPS or other route planning tools
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage time effectively during day shifts

Pay: £17.00-£20.99 per hour
